An integrated spray line by Giardina Group
Quality, performance and efficiency. Giardina Group – the Italian group specialized in the development of coating and finishing solutions – offers a complete line for polyurethane (PU) and water-based coating, designed to manage both the coating and drying processes through the integration of dedicated technologies with an efficient, automated handling system. “The process is extremely high-performing and starts with the “Movetech BT 3500” belt loading table, which feeds the workpiece to be coated into the line. The “Cleantech G02-20” brushing machine then removes any dust residues and impurities, while coating is handled by the “Dualtech 400 SBC” automatic spray-coating machine, one of our best-known and most appreciated technologies on the market. Drying is ensured by the “Vertech GPM6 6500” vertical oven, while the “Movetech BT 4000” belt table conveys the coated and dried workpiece to unloading at the end of the cycle”, explained Stefano Mauri, co-owner of the group together with his brother Riccardo.
THE LINE
“MOVETECH BT 3500” AND “MOVETECH BT 4000”
“Movetech BT 3500” and “Movetech BT 4000” are two handling systems with a treated PVC endless belt, designed to ensure high resistance, self-centring and anti-solvent and antistatic properties. These solutions are equipped with an “Atex 3G” electric motor and an electrical system with IP55 protection. The workpiece passage width is 1,400 millimetres, while the conveyor table height can be adjusted from 870 to 930 millimetres, adapting to different operating requirements. The table drive system is powered by a gearmotor with speed adjustment via inverter. The machines comply with CE standards and have an overall length of 3,500 and 4,000 millimetres respectively.
“CLEANTECH G02-20”
The “Cleantech” is a panel cleaning machine equipped with brushes and sector rotary blowers, configurable for every panel surface cleaning operation, including edges, holes and milling, on both raw and coated workpieces depending on the brush type used. The cleaning unit consists of a large-diameter vegetable fibre (“Tampico”) and nylon mixed brush, together with a blower featuring 16 rotating nozzles activated automatically as the workpiece passes through. Both cleaning units are equipped with dust extraction hoods. Cleaning unit height can be adjusted according to panel thickness by means of a handwheel and monitored with a decimal comparator. Machines in the “G02” series are modular, making it possible to combine different units to achieve the ideal configuration and satisfy any panel cleaning requirement before and during coating operations. It is the ideal solution for brushing, dust removal and blowing operations on one or both faces and edges of both flat and shaped panels.
“DUALTECH 400”
The oscillating spray-coating machine “Dualtech 400” is one of the most representative models in Giardina Group’s range of spray-finishing solutions. Developed from more than fifty years of experience in the sector, it is designed to combine application quality, reliability, operating flexibility, technological innovation and ease of use.
Suitable for medium-capacity production, “Dualtech 400” allows stains, primers and topcoats to be applied to both flat and shaped surfaces, including edges. The machine is available in three configurations: “Single Belt”, with a 2,000 millimetre-wide synthetic belt and Giardina Group’s product recovery and belt-cleaning system; “Dual Belt”, which combines a self-cleaning synthetic belt with a disposable paper system, allowing the operator to choose the most suitable mode for the process; and “Single Belt Paper”, with a disposable paper system.
All versions can be equipped with “Dry” solid particulate abatement systems, with dry filtration, or “Wet” systems, with water filtration. The machine can also be configured with the “Dualtech” spraying system and the “Dualfast” quick gun-change system.
The spray booth is made of carbon steel profiles and pre-painted sheet-metal panels. The air distribution plenum is designed to ensure an efficient airflow and help reduce overspray. In both the “Dry” and “Wet” versions, solid particulate abatement is handled by three separate filtration stages.
From a technical standpoint, “Dualtech 400” offers a basic useful working width of 1,300 millimetres, a 2,000 millimetre synthetic conveyor belt and 1,700 millimetre disposable paper. The gun translation system, configurable up to 4+4 guns, is driven by a brushless motor, while the centre distance of the reciprocating arms is 1,880 millimetres. The coating circuit can manage up to 4+4 guns, with the option of four independent circuits on request.
“VERTECH GPM6 6500”
The “Vertech GPM6 6500” multi-level vertical oven is a solution designed and manufactured for the flash-off of coating products in limited spaces. The belts are arranged on overlapping levels – five or six, depending on the configuration – and allow coated workpieces to be loaded in a continuous first-in, first-out cycle. In this way, the drying time remains the same for all pieces, while the footprint is approximately one fifth or one sixth of that required by a horizontal oven.
Like all ovens in the “Vertech GPM” range, “Vertech GPM6” is designed for the flash-off of coating products on different types of substrates. This solution features a six-level overlapping conveyor system, available with a length of 6,500 millimetres. Thanks to the laminar air distribution between the six levels, ventilation is uniform and optimized.
The “Cleaning Box” air supply unit, used across the entire range, draws air from the outside, filters it and then heats it through a radiant coil. Two differential pressure switches continuously monitor the condition of the filters, activating maintenance signals in the event of clogging.
